It Is All Around Us

A Weed Or A Wish

I reached down and plucked a dandelion out of the grass. I felt a drop of moisture from the smooth stem land on the palm of my hand. I admired how the seemingly fluffy seeds were so perfectly spherical on the head. I carried it a bit further along the path, remembering the fascination as a kid, making wishes upon dandelion after dandelion. Then I stopped, puckered my lips, gently blew the seeds into the soft breeze, and watched them float to the ground. I tossed the stem back into the grass and continued on the path.

This weed is energy.

Energy is the fundamental source of life. It is transferred with every sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound. As taught in Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), there are four dimensions of energy – mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. At any time, one or more of the dimensions can feel more stable. The goal is to strive for equality to balance mind, body, heart, and soul.

We are energy.

"Like wildflowers; you must allow yourself to grow in all the places people thought you never would."

-E.V.

I came out of the path between the trees and continued walking, just noticing. The reflection of the sun on the houses. Scents of fresh cut grass and newly laid mulch. Children playing, neighbors grilling, and cars passing by. Birds chirping, rabbits running into the bushes, and geese lying by the pond. My hair blowing in the breeze, the sound of my flip-flops on the sidewalk, and the feeling of Brad by my side. A peaceful walk around the neighborhood is so refreshing.

Everything is a pattern of energy.

Some days are energetically positive. The mind feels sharp. The body feels powerful. The heart feels blissful. The soul feels connected. Other days are energetically challenging. The mind feels foggy. The body feels weak. The heart feels broken. The soul feels disconnected. Bringing back balance requires strength, flexibility, stamina, and resiliency.

But rejuvenation is simpleas simple as a wish upon a weed.
