Close Your Eyes

A Beautiful Escape

Imagination, intuition, and insight reign supreme in a space at the center of our forehead, between the eyebrows, at the base of the nose. This space, more deeply located in our brain, strengthens our connection to the inner and outer through vision. It gives us the power to see with our eyes closed as part of the energetic system of our body influencing our mind through spiritual and emotional expression.

This is our third eye chakra.

I was standing in a dimly lit, small education center with no windows. One of my Kula members was leading chakra meditation during Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Eyes closed, I imagined myself a tree. Firmly rooted into the earth. Strong branches swaying in a gentle breeze. Feeling warmth of the sun shining bright overhead. As attention drew to my third eye, I imagined anywhere I desired to be as this tree.

"We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."

-Unknown

Suddenly, I escaped to Hawaii. This single tree high atop a lookout point in Pu'u Ualaka'a State Park. The bustling city of Honolulu below. The vast Pacific Ocean on the horizon. The grand Diamond Head Mountain in the distance. A place I was lucky enough to be a couple years ago with Brad. I imagined a breathtaking view I had once seen with my eyes open.

If beauty is seen, it will be created.

By seeing with our eyes closed we can recognize meaning. There is a chance to break free of daily patterns and stress exhausting our well-being. Our realities are created on our thoughts and visions. Everything imagined – hopes and dreams – is part of our third eye chakra. There is power to positively influence our being.

Close your eyes and beautifully escape for a moment.
