January Recap
According to mindbodygreen, Capricorn (that’s me!) will have the luckiest 2020 of all the zodiac signs (shoutout to my mom for sending me the article). So far, I must say, it’s living up to the hype! January was all about #NamastefortheKupcakes. After successful events in August 2019 and October 2019, I teamed up with my friends at Kupcakes & Co. to spread more yoga and cupcake love to kick off the new year. And this time around, it drew some local media attention! I was beyond grateful and excited to have my passion event featured in The Howard County Times/Baltimore Sun – proof that if you put your ideas into action amazing things can happen!
Held in the Clarksville Commons Community Room, our January classes featured a 60-minute vinyasa flow on January 17 and a 60-minute yin yoga session on January 31. As part of my 2020 mantra, new year, NOW YOU, I relayed a message about self-compassion.
Self-compassion has three parts: 1. self-kindness – being warm and understanding with ourselves, 2. common humanity – knowing we are all vulnerable and imperfect, 3. mindfulness – balancing our emotions, neither suppressing nor exaggerating them. We took a little inventory together, thinking about where our inner-critic pops up – work, relationships, as a parent, looking in the mirror, or maybe even right there on our yoga mat.
"Your mind will always believe everything you tell it. Remember to feed it love and kindness."

Think about this…
When you’re going through a difficult time, struggling and under stress, where do YOU rank on the priority list of people to take care of? Do you apply care, or try to avoid it?
When things are tough, do you compare yourself to others, thinking the rest of us have it all together? Or is your perspective balanced, knowing all of us struggle?
Meet the days, weeks, months and year ahead with more care and understanding for yourself – more self-compassion. Treat yourself like you would treat someone you love.
Many, many thanks to Kupcakes & Co., Clarksville Commons and the local community for their unwavering support. Be on the lookout for more events coming this spring! Looking forward to getting back outside and sharing space with even more sweet yogis.
As always…
May you have peace in your mind, peace in your words and peace in your heart. Namaste…for the Kupcakes.
