From Yogi To Yoga Teacher

The Journey Continues

Twelve weeks ago I felt like a beginner. I had only been practicing yoga for a couple years. I could not do any “fancy” poses. My Sanskrit vocabulary consisted of about three words. I walked into my first day of Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) worried I would not only feel like a beginner, but I would look like one, too. And twelve weeks ago, I realized none of it mattered.

Yesterday, I graduated from YTT.

What matters is passion. Throughout my YTT journey, my passion expanded greater – for yoga and for life. With passion, the spirit is ignited and dedication, love, and enthusiasm prevail.

"Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is what you learn on the way down."

-Jigar Gor

My mind is powered by dedication.

With dedication to my yoga practice I mastered some of those “fancy” poses, but more importantly learned anything is possible. With dedication to creating a lifestyle combining yoga and design, I continue to pull inspiration from both and stay true to myself.

My heart is full of love.

Love for Brad, who encouraged me to chase a dream and supported me in more ways than one while I chased it. Love for my YTT Kula, ten beautiful women on a new yoga journey, and two inspiring gurus shining bright to light the way. Love for myself, and the place I am in my life, right here, right now.

My soul is driven by enthusiasm.

It was not always easy to spend sixteen hours a week in training, living and breathing yoga even beyond those tallied hours. But a smile and a positive mind go a long way. My enthusiasm to continue learning and relating the practice of yoga to life will not fade.

My journey with YTT has ended, and a certificate grants me the title of Yoga Teacher. But the truth is…I am forever a student. We all are. In each new day we wake up and go out into the world, we are beginners. There are new challenges to face, new lessons to learn, and new experiences to live out with passion.

Now, each time I roll out my mat…the journey continues.
